Balenciaga recruits Isabelle Huppert and PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn as brand ambassadors

On Monday, Balenciaga announced that actors Isabelle Huppert and PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn would join the Spanish fashion house as their newest ambassadors.
The brand took to its Instagram (which was wiped completely clean last year) to announce the news, sharing the first images of the pair with the caption, “Balenciaga is proud to announce PP Krit Amnuaydechkorn/Isabelle Hupper as Brand Ambassador.” Their story added that: “For the first time, Balenciaga announces brand ambassadors.” It went on to say that they had been chosen for their “creative work, values, and approaches to life, these individuals represent the modern Balenciaga community.” It seems that by taking these two internationally renowned stars in their field, the label is moving forward with plans to embody their initial principles and champion true creative power.
Huppert, of course, is a prominent French actress and holds to her name the most films that have been entered into the Cannes Film Festival. With over 130 films and TV appearances, she is known as one of the greatest living performers. Amongst her work, she began to form a tie with Balenciaga in 2021 having appeared in some of the brand’s previous campaigns like for Fall/Winter 23, and with Kim Kardashian for their 2022 series. She even walked for the brand in their haute couture FW23/24 showcase, sauntering down in a floor-length dress with embroidered black sequin detailing. She most recently raised Cannes attendees’ brows recently with a pair of the brand’s Anatomic heels that hail a human-toe silhouette, confidently strutting her stuff with the moulded footwear on display.
Amnuaydechkorn, known as PP Krit, is an award-winning actor and singer from Thailand. He is best known for his appearance in the critically acclaimed show I Told Sunset About You and is also blossoming into one of the country’s biggest singing stars, with his uber-pop vocals on the soundtrack for the series. The creative’s style, which straddles romantic silhouettes and intimately cut-out pieces, fits well within the Balenciaga aesthetic. PP Krit even has his own fashion brand, Colors Culture, which embodies his passion for a bright palette – something he may have to ditch for this new signature-monochrome adventure.
The ambassadors have been chosen to represent the Balenciaga creative energy, undoubtedly in a bid to repair the bridges they burnt with recent controversies. Most infamously, the brand released two campaigns last year in November 2022 that depicted children holding teddy bears in BDSM clothing and SCOTUS child porn documents. Demna, the Creative Director of the fashion house, issued a lengthy apology stating that there are now “more attentive checks and validation steps applied before any image goes out”. They then dropped off the Lyst Index brand list, placing at number 16 this year after boasting top spots previously and never scoring below the top ten.
Now, Balenciaga seems to be ushering fans and buyers to move past the previous controversy and embrace this new era of creativity. Undoubtedly, the regulations put in place following their previous slip-ups will produce fine-tuned campaigns with their new ambassadors.
