Alexis Stone strikes again as a couture Jessica Lange on Balenciaga’s front row
The drag queen and make-up artist of the moment Alexis Stone is back with her uncanny impersonations of cultural icons, this time sporting a Jessica Lange body double. At Balenciaga’s Fall 2023 couture show, she stepped out head to toe in one of the house’s black silk dresses, sporting alien eyewear, a blonde tousled updo, and the ultimate accessory – Jessica Lange’s face.
After making headlines as The White Lotus’ Jennifer Coolidge at Diesel’s show in February, this celebrity disguise is becoming a bit of a signature of Stone’s, and fans are loving it. With the house creative Director Demna’s blessing, she perched on the front row in the suit of the 76-year-old American Horror Story star.
Demna reached out to Stone during the pandemic, obsessed with the transformative looks and wanting a slice of the hype at Balenciaga. This isn’t the first time she has wowed the house’s guests at a show, however, after donning a Robin Williams’ Mrs. Doubtfire number at FW22, Dolly Parton at the Resort collection in 2023, and springing up as Swiss socialite Jocelyn Wildenstein, better known as Catwoman for her extensive cosmetic surgeries.
It’s not a cosplay but rather an ode to these icons, and the celebs themselves are rather flattered by the get-up. Jennifer Coolidge even privately messaged Stone on Instagram in appreciation, saying “You are a brilliant superstar… I really thought it was me.” If Coolidge can’t even recognise the difference between her face and Stone’s hyper-realistic artistry, what luck do we have?
For Lange, the recipient of a Triple Crown of Acting, having received two Academy Awards, three Primetime Emmy Awards, and a Tony Award, she has become somewhat of a glamour icon with her role in the ‘76 King Kong as well as a recent stint in American Horror Story. A fan favourite was her role as the alluring bloodthirsty former Supreme of the coven of the Salem descendants, Fiona Goode.
It takes a whole team and 6 weeks’ worth of work to bring the looks to life, which requires prosthetics down to the teeth and eyebrows. You can watch the whole transformation on Stone’s socials now. We are yet to hear Lange’s take on the evil Balenciaga twin that took her place on the front row, but if it’s anything like Coolidge’s, she may be checking in the mirror a few more times today.
