Dior’s advent calendar is the gift that keeps on giving

For the fifth year running, the French maison’s Le 30 Montaigne calendar offers treats galore — with a side of history.

If you haven’t been in the Christmas spirit until now, nabbing yourself one of Dior’s limited edition advent calendars is a sure way of changing that. Back for the fifth year in a row, the Le 30 Montaigne is an absolute treasure trove of perfume, skincare and makeup galore from the French maison’s beauty range. Without giving too many spoilers, a sneak peak of the treats inside include the esteemed Dior Prestige activated serum, a mini Miss Dior eau de parfum and the brand’s signature rouge lipstick. It even contains their Bois des Rêves candle, which literally smells like all the most magical parts of winter (the woody notes are to thank for that).

Unlike most advent calendars, though, the real beauty of Le 30 Montaigne is the piece of history that comes with it. Each year, the exterior of the calendar is modelled on Dior’s legendary boutique at 30 Avenue Montaigne in Paris, making the calendar an ode to the maison’s history as much as the luxury its clientele have enjoyed for the last eighty years. Aside from the calendar’s façade, though, the inside of Le 30 Montaigne is a veritable work of art — it features a bespoke design (gilded botanicals centered around a beaming sun) created by artist Pietro Ruffo and inspired by the Palace of Versailles.

With all that said, the Dior advent calendar is literally the gift that keeps on giving — once all the draws are empty and the other Christmas trimmings are put away, it’d be a waste not to repurpose the Le 30 Montaigne as a jewellery box. It’s got a pretty hefty price tag (£570 to be precise), so you might as well make the most of it. If you’re a fan of Dior beauty (or just love a luxury treat), it’s definitely worth it, though — with 24 doors filled with Dior goodies, you’re guaranteed to get your money’s worth.
