Who. What. Where? No. 106

Welcome to HUNGER’s Who. What. Where? Your one stop shop for all the latest and greatest upcoming cultural must-knows and tip-offs.

If you’ve been to HUNGER TV before, you’ll know we love a coffee table book. And this one, well, you might actually explore it beyond the front cover. Titled PLACES + FACES, it’s the lovechild of creative duo Ciesay and Soulz (the photography slash fashion slash publishing moguls), who’ve been working on P+F since 2013. It all started when Ciesay bumped into A$AP Ferg in a lift and asked to shoot him. From there, there was lots of blagging their way into parties and events, and voilà, the project was born. Specifically, the photo book takes you inside the real lives of big dogs in music and beyond — Travis Scott, A$AP Rocky, Stormzy, the lot. With a whopping 480 pages, you get a real close up look at the people who’ve formed the past decade or so of culture. It dropped today on IDEA

On the subject of music, south London-based rapper, DJ and model Goya Gumbani (“Chase The Sunrise”) is dropping his debut album, Warlord of the Weejuns, with Ghostly International. Genre-wise, it sits somewhere between London jazz and NYC hip-hop — the multihyphenate was born in Brooklyn, after all. Unlike his older, sample-orientated stuff, Gumbani’s new album is packed with full-band arrangements and features a heap of cool artists from Fatima (“FireFly”) to Joe Armon-Jones (“Manuva(s)”). Check it out here from 21 March — or listen to the pre-released singles now.

On a very different note, we wanted to highlight a cool collab between Swedish designer Gustaf Westman and everyone’s favourite kinky dating app, Feeld. Together, they’ve created an installation at Simon House in LA called “Come to Beeeed”, which is, probably, the first-ever bed designed for non-monogamy (it has lots of room). It’s also about the modern-day approach to beds, whose functions tend to extend far beyond sleep and shagging. It has features like multiple TVs – which speak to Gen Z’s penchant for bed-rotting – and mirrors for, well, you can guess that one. If you’re not in LA, though, you can enjoy the collab through the limited-edition PJ set Feeld and Westman have created. Details on how to grab a pair go live on Instagram at @feeldco and @gustavwestman on Friday.

Elsewhere, Loewe is bidding farewell to JW Anderson as their creative director. Before he goes, though, Anderson’s final collaboration is about combining two wonderful things — couture and cognac. It’s the first time Hennessy has partnered with a fashion house and the collab is all about bringing Loewe’s leatherwear expertise to the alcohol brand. The result is a series of nest-like bottle cases, inspired by the chestnut burr (that spiky thing that falls off trees), and they’re a real work of art. Taking ten hours to hand-craft each nest, the collection is a very special, limited edition one, and you can check it out here.

Another fashion drop we wanted to spotlight is London and Parma-based label ABLONDI’s AW25 collection. We were immediately sucked in by its name, La Bellissima Che Uccide, which means ‘The Beautiful One Who Kills’ (it’s from an Italian film called Modesty Blaise, which is about a utopian world where female violence usurps men’s). How that all comes into the collection, though, is through ’60s-style tailoring, which harks back to the costumes of anti-heronies like Monica Vitti as Modesty Blaise, speaking to female anger as much as sex appeal. Love. Take a look here.

Over in beauty, Swedish skincare brand Gun Ana (aptly named after the ancient sun goddess) has a new SPF out just in time for spring. It’s called the Multiguard SPF Stick SPF50 and it’s great because, not only does it protect against UVA and UVB rays, it’s also designed to nourish and hydrate the skin. Plus, as the name suggests, it comes in stick form, which means it’s perfect for use on the go. Fitting for a brand born from the co-founders’ love of skiing. The SPF launches today, so check it out on Gun Ana.

Last up, we have something for anyone who needs a bit of a pick-me-up. ODE ONA is a new player in the fragrance industry and the Hong Kong-born brand is all about using scent to inspire the emotions we want to feel — empowerment, cleansing, calming, you get the vibe. Something else that’ll make you feel good is the knowledge that each purchase from the six-scent collection contributes to a charity that aligns with each scent. Visit ODE ONA here.
