Abbey Road celebrates the reopening of Studio One with ‘Synergy In Motion’

The film fuses contemporary dance with cinematic composition, remixed by Abbey Road’s artist in residence, Jordan Rakei.

Abbey Road’s Studio One hasn’t been host to a dance performance since Kate Bush filmed a music video there back in 1981. To mark its grand reopening back in March, then, it was only fitting that the recording venue pulled out all the stops with a night of dance performance, dubbed ‘Synergy in Motion’.

Of course, only industry big dogs could pull off such a monumental performance. That’s why Royal Ballet alumnus Joseph Toonga was selected to conjure up some visceral choreography, while acclaimed film composer Daniel Pemberton (Spider-Man, Ocean’s 8) handed over his repertoire of film scores, to be remixed by Abbey Road’s artist in residence, Jordan Rakei

While only a select few could fit between the walls that has seen everyone from Little Simz to Harry Styles record, Abbey Road has just dropped a film, Abbey Road Presents: Synergy In Motion, that delves into March’s emblematic performance. Specifically, it’s angled around the journey behind this “beautiful collision” of dance, film and cutting-edge contemporary music (Jordan Rakei is, after all, known for his production wizardry).
